Building Skills for Life: Learnings From My Apprenticeship at Hilti by Maclove Ohemengve Ohemeng

Maclove Ohemeng – Hilti – Graduate Programme, Account Manager

This year’s National Apprenticeship Week theme is "Skills for Life," and it’s given me the opportunity to share some of my thoughts as I reflect on my experience with Hilti.

When I left university in 2023, I entered the world of work with a degree, but I was asking myself questions like, "How will I use my degree as well as my skills?" and "What career will give me the best possible opportunity to explore my passions and develop my weaknesses?" These questions led me to the Graduate Scheme here at Hilti, where I’ve been working as an Account Manager.

From day one, almost 12 months ago, Hilti has given me the opportunity and training to provide the best support possible for my accounts, while building my skills to become a better Account Manager.

The dynamic role of an Account Manager has provided opportunities to travel to different sites across the country and work on some truly amazing projects. Though the role has been challenging, it has also been very rewarding and has given me everything I had been looking for as a young graduate.

The graduate role here at Hilti has given me the opportunity to meet and build relationships with individuals from different backgrounds. This is what makes working at Hilti such a valuable experience and an environment that will push me forward throughout my career.

Although I haven’t worked directly with Sizewell C, projects like this will continue to drive my professional development, opening new doors and expanding my expertise in the exciting and increasingly valuable nuclear sector.
