Why we support Sizewell C

The UK needs more home-grown clean energy if it is to keep the nation secure from price shocks – and to reach our ambitious net zero targets. Sizewell C and new British nuclear is vital to achieving this.

Built by Britain

Building Sizewell C will bring contracts to nearly 4,000 British companies in our domestic nuclear supply-chain which are ready and raring to go. 70% of the project’s construction value will go to British businesses.

Jobs and skills across the UK

Sizewell C is not just a project for Suffolk. Through a nationwide supply-chain, it will bring over 70,000 jobs to workers and businesses throughout the country, stimulating bottom-up economic growth directly in industrial communities and clusters across the UK.

Certainty for our nuclear supply-chain

If we don’t build Sizewell C without delay, the national and constituency level jobs and contractors ready to be deployed and that will pioneer all forms of nuclear technology to secure Britain’s energy future could fall by the wayside.

Unleashing British industrial potential

Britain has long been a leader in energy infrastructure, but hope has faded towards our ability to build for ourselves – delivering Sizewell C without hesitation will show that our industrial potential can be met, in turn securing sustained economic growth.

Supply chain commitments to Wales, the North and the East of England

On behalf of our members the Consortium has signed Memorandums of Understanding with Wales, the North of England and the East of England to ensure the project benefits are realised in these economies.
